Castle of the Counts

Ink

This the “Castle of the Counts” in Ghent, Belgium. Beth and I took a tour of this 12th century castle, which had an entertaining audio tour to guide us through its rooms. Supposedly, this is the castle where the modern fireplace was invented. It was built by Count Phillip of Flanders in 1180.

The sketch is 5x8in. with pigment ink on mixed media paper.
