A Few From My Sketchbook This Week
Castle of the Counts
This the “Castle of the Counts” in Ghent, Belgium. Beth and I took a tour of this 12th century castle, which had an entertaining audio tour to guide us through its rooms. Supposedly, this is the castle where the modern fireplace was invented.
Randy in Red Pants
Randy in Red Pants. 6 x 9in. Ink and watercolor on paper.
Randy is a banking and investment advisor and is a fixture at all the best parties in town. He has a wonderful collection of art prints and watercolor paintings.
Fredrick
“Fredrick” is an 11x14 in. ink and watercolor painting on paper. I found a fabulous archive of photos from London in the 1860’s, that this is based on one of those photos.
Summer Whites
“Sumer Whites” is a quick sketch in my sketchbook. It’s from a reference photo I found online and is made with ink and PITT markers.
Best Friends
Ink and watercolor painting of me and Louie. :) 11x14 in.
Skinny Buildings
Townhouses get narrower and people get bigger.
Reclaiming Unused Property
The house is around the corner from me. It had a land use sign on it a few years ago and everyone expected it would be torn down and new apartments or condos would be built. But then a couple of years ago they owners took down the sign and the property has been sitting unused ever since. Years ago it was a lively house with lots of creative people living there.
